Classes are free and will be held at our store. Food and beverages will be provided. Free Off-Site Tasting Prior to Class. Meet at the store by 1 pm. Please make reservations with taste preferences for sampling. Seating is limited, so please call in advance to make your reservation. Class Descriptions Beginning Winemaking Class This class will begin with a discussion of the general winemaking process and applicable terminology. Immediately following will be a demonstration of the four steps involved in making wine from an ingredient package. We will also put an emphasis on the equipment necessary for winemaking and how to use it including siphoning equipment, filters, and corkers. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge of how to make a delicious wine in the comfort of their own home all year round. Beg./Intermediate Winemaking Class This class will cover everything from the Beginning Winemaking Class along with how to make wine from Fresh Fruit and Canned Fruit Bases. This class is the perfect progression for those that wish to move beyond making wine from kits to making wine from fresh fruit. Immediately following the discussion will be a demonstration of the four steps involved in making wine from an ingredient package as well as fresh fruit. We will also put an emphasis on fruit preparation for use in winemaking, measuring additives, clarification, and adding sweeteners after stabilization. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge of how to make a delicious wine from a wine kit, fresh fruit, or a canned fruit base. Beg./Advanced Winemaking Class This class will cover everything from the Beginning Winemaking Class along with how to make wine from Fresh Grapes and Juices. This class is the perfect progression for those that wish to move beyond making wine from kits and fresh fruit wines to making wine from fresh grapes and juices. Immediately following the discussion will be a demonstration of the four steps involved in making wine from an ingredient package as well as fresh grapes. We will also put an emphasis on the equipment used in winemaking including a motorized crusher/destemmer, a wine press, as well as testing and balancing specific gravity, sulfite levels, and acidity using a hydrometer or Refractometer, a Sulphite Titret kit, a PH meter and an Acid Testing kit. Those who attend will leave this class with the knowledge of how to make a delicious wine from a wine kit, as well as making wine from scratch using fresh grapes and juices. |
