The Briess Raw Rye 50 lb. is an exceptional choice for home beer and winemaking enthusiasts looking to add a unique spicy rye flavor to their brews. This high-quality rye malt is perfect for creating a range of beer styles, from medium flavored lagers to dark ales, and even specialty brews like Rye Pale Ales, Wheat, and Smoked Beers. With its clean, sweet, and mildly malty flavor, it contributes a light straw color to your beer, enhancing its visual appeal.
You can use this rye malt in 5% increments until you achieve the desired flavor. It's fully modified, performing well in a single temperature infusion mash if used at less than 20% of the total grist. Being hull-less and with high beta glucan content, Briess Raw Rye can result in levels approaching 20% and supplementing with a betaglucanase enzyme above 50% for manageability for lautering.
