Picture this: a glass filled with a radiant golden liquid, shimmering under the light. As you take your first sip, your palate is greeted with a burst of citrusy goodness, courtesy of the Motueka and Columbus hops. These hops lend a zesty flavor profile, with hints of grapefruit and lemon dancing on your tongue. But that's not all – there's a subtle peppery undertone that adds a touch of intrigue to each sip.

To enhance the tropical experience, we've added a generous dry hopping of Azacca hops. These hops bring in fresh notes of pineapple and mango, transporting you to a sunny beach paradise with every sip. It's like a mini vacation in a glass!

Now, let's dive into the ingredients that make this Double Dipper Double IPA truly exceptional. We start with 6 lbs. of Light Dry Malt Extract, providing a solid foundation for your brew. To add a touch of sweetness and depth, we've included 1 lb. of Caramel 40L Malt. This malt brings a subtle caramel flavor that perfectly complements the hoppy goodness.

To enhance the mouthfeel and head retention, we've added 8 oz. of Flaked Wheat. This ingredient adds a smoothness to the beer, making it a pleasure to drink. And to ensure that your brew reaches its full potential, we've included 1 lb. of Corn Sugar, which helps boost fermentation and carbonation.

Now, let's talk hops! We've carefully selected the perfect combination to create a flavor explosion. The star of the show is the Columbus hops, contributing a bold and resinous character to the beer. These hops bring a delightful bitterness that balances out the sweetness, creating a harmonious flavor profile.

Next up, we have the Motueka hops. These New Zealand hops are known for their vibrant citrus flavors, adding a refreshing twist to your brew. With Motueka hops, you can expect a burst of lemon, lime, and grapefruit, creating a bright and invigorating experience.

Last but certainly not least, we have the Azacca hops. These tropical wonders are responsible for infusing your beer with the essence of paradise. Imagine sipping on a beer that transports you to a lush tropical island, with notes of pineapple and mango tantalizing your senses. It's like a vacation in every sip!

star sanSanitizer and Spray Bottle

Good sanitation practices are absolutely fundamental to good beer making. Five Star San is the premier sanitizer you will need to make your Double Dipper Double IPA beer kit. A great practice for extra protection is to have a spray bottle filled with sanitizing solution so you can re-sanitize everything that touches or goes near your beer. Sanitation is much more difficult with beer than wine because beer has a higher pH. Wine's high acidity makes bacterial infection less likely but with beer, one small mishap can cost you your batch.

amber beer bottleBottles

When your Double Dipper Double IPA is done, you will need bottles. This standard 12 ounce bottle is a good choice. You will need 54 for a 5 gallon batch. Bottles do not come with caps.

5 gallon glass carboy

Carboys

The 5 gallon carboy pictured here is the standard size for any beer kit. If you have never worked with a carboy, it is important to know they should not be moved full without a carboy handle or a carrier.

The pot pictured is an 8 gallon pot that is perfect for any beer kit or a standard 5 gallon batch.

wart-chiller.pngWort Chillers and Thermometers

Wort Chillers and Thermometers are long term investments. It is important to chill your Double Dipper Double IPA wort quickly. The quicker you chill it the stronger the cold break will be. You also need a good thermometer that reads fast temperature fluctuations.

SiphonsSiphons

Auto-siphons are a great luxury item to have in your brew equipment. Once you have one you will never go without it again. Don't forget to use a heavy duty sanitizer to clean it since you don't want to replace it as often as hoses. A good sanitizer for that job is Five Star San.

FermenterFermenters

The fermenter pictured here is standard for a 5 gallon beer kit.

minijet-tubing-34987-97929.jpgHoses

Many people reuse their hoses for far too long. Replacing your hoses often or even using as single use items is highly recommended with beer making. Hoses are very hard to clean and beer is very susceptible to bacterial infection. You do not want to risk losing your Double Dipper Double IPA over a few feet of unsanitary hose.

Pouring your wort into a carboy can be tricky. Use a big funnel made just for the job. They even have different mesh screens to remove particles.

AirlocksAirlocks

It is recommended to replace airlocks often. Because they never physically touch the beer, the sanitation risk is too often overlooked. Bacteria can spread without physical contact in a closed environment and plastic stubbornly harbors bacteria.

6.5 stopperStoppers and Bungs

Bungs and stoppers should also be periodically replaced. They can dry out and harbor bacteria.

 carboy brushCarboy Brush

Keeping your carboy clean before and after use is key to avoid bacterial infection in your beer. A carboy brush is a great tool to get into those nooks and crannies.

bottle-washer.pngStainless Steel Carboy and Bottle Washer

Stainless Steel Carboy and Bottle Washer is a convenient way of cleaning your bottles and/or carboys.  This high quality tool will come in handy.  Hooks up straight to your faucet with the bottle washer adapter (#4804) and puts out plenty of pressure to clean those stubborn stains from beer bottles that have been sitting around.

bottle capperCapper

When you bottle your Double Dipper Double IPA, you will need to cap your bottles. This capper is inexpensive, easy to use and does not require attaching to a counter. It has a magnet to hold the cap in place.

 DID YOU KNOW?

The fermentation of ale typically occurs at temperatures ranging from 15 to 24 °C (60 to 75 °F). If the temperature is higher than 24 °C (75 °F), then it can lead to increased production of esters, which are compounds that add fruity aromas and flavors to the beer. These aromas and flavors can include those found in fruits such as apples, pears, pineapples, bananas, plums, cherries, or prunes.
