Seductress Black Cherry Stout is a robust and full-bodied ale with rich malt character and a hint of sweetness. This beer kit combines 8 lbs. of Dark Dry Malt Extract with 1 lb. Crystal Malt (40L), 1 lb. Roasted Barley, 1 lb. Chocolate Malt, and 8 oz. Black Malt, giving the beer a strong malt backbone. Hops are added for balance and flavor with 1 oz. Northern Brewer Hops (Bittering), 1 oz. Fuggles Hops (Flavor), and 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Aroma). The beer is then fermented with a Dry Ale Yeast, Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo Packet, and a finishing touch of 4 oz. Black Cherry Flavoring. Ingredients
- 8 lbs. Dark Dry Malt Extract
- 1 lb. Crystal Malt (40L)
- 1 lb. Roasted Barley
- 1 lb. Chocolate Malt
- 8 oz. Black Malt
- 1 oz. Northern Brewer Hops (Bittering)
- 1 oz. Fuggles Hops (Flavor)
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Aroma)
- 1 Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo Packet
- 1 pkg. Dry Ale Yeast
- 4 oz. Black Cherry Flavoring
Hop Schedule
- 1 oz. Northern Brewer Hops (Bittering) - Boil for 60 minutes
- 1 oz. Fuggles Hops (Flavor) - Boil for 15 minutes
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Aroma) - Boil for 5 minutes
Instructions
1. Begin by steeping the grains in 2-3 gallons of water at 155°F for 30 minutes.
2. Remove the grains and discard.
3. Add the dry malt extract and stir until completely dissolved. Bring to a boil.
4. Add the Northern Brewer hops and boil for 60 minutes.
5. Add the Fuggles hops and boil for 15 minutes with the Yeast Energizer/Irish Moss Combo.
6. Add the East Kent Goldings hops and boil for 5 minutes.
8. Cool the wort to 70°F and transfer to a fermenter.
9. Add cold water to the fermenter to bring the total volume to 5 gallons.
10. Pitch the yeast and ferment at 68°F for 7-10 days.
11. Rack the beer to a secondary fermenter and allow to condition for 14 days.
12. Add the cherry flavoring and bottle the beer.
