Your Lunar Azul Wheat Ale is a light and refreshing craft beer made with a blend of pilsen dry malt extract, wheat dry malt extract, white wheat malt, flaked oats, and Hallertau hops for a subtle bitterness. This beer kit also includes a spice pack and a special Yeast Energizer and Irish Moss combo packet for a smooth and balanced finish. Ingredients
- 3 lbs. Pilsen Dry Malt Extract
- 3 lbs. Wheat Dry Malt Extract
- 1 lb. White Wheat Malt
- 8 oz. Flaked Oats
- 2 oz. Hallertau Hops
- Spice Pack*
- Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo Packet
- 1 Package Dry Ale Yeast (SafBrew WB-06)
*Spice Pack = 1/4 oz of coriander and 1 oz bitter orange peel
Hop Schedule
- 60 minutes: 1 oz. German Hallertau (Bittering)
- 5 minutes: 1 oz. German Hallertau (Aroma)
Instructions
1. Heat 2-3 gallons of water to 155°F.
2. Place grains in a grain bag and steep in the hot water for 30 minutes.
3. Remove the grain bag and discard.
4. Stir your dry malt extract into the wort until fully dissolved.
5. Bring to a rolling boil.
6. Once boiling, add the malt extract and stir until fully dissolved.
7. Add the hops according to the hop schedule.
8. Boil for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
9. At 15 minutes left in boil add the Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo Packet.
10. Add spice pack at 5 minutes left in boil.
11. Cool the wort to 70°F.
12. Transfer the wort to a fermenter and top off with cold water to 5 gallons.
13. Pitch the yeast and seal the fermenter.
14. Ferment at 68-70°F for 10-14 days.
15. Transfer to a bottling bucket and stir in 5 oz. priming sugar. Mix until evenly distributed and bottle your beer.
16. Once bottled, allow 2 weeks for carbonation in a cool, dark room. Enjoy!
