You’ll start with 10 lbs of Pale Malt (2-Row), the sturdy canvas that forms the backbone of your brew. The addition of 0.5 lbs of Carapils (Dextrin) Malt and 0.5 lbs of Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L adds a touch of sweetness and body, creating a malt base that’s as smooth as a well-worn path through a forest of flavor.
Your hop journey begins with 1 oz of Columbus Hops, added at the 60-minute mark, setting the stage with a robust bitterness that’s as bold as a declaration. As you progress, 0.5 oz of Amarillo Hops at 30 minutes and 1 oz of Cascade Hops at 15 minutes introduce layers of citrusy brightness, like sunlight filtering through the trees. The 1 oz of Simcoe Hops at 10 minutes adds a piney aroma that’s as refreshing as a mountain breeze. At flame out, 0.5 oz of Amarillo Hops seals in the citrusy notes, while 2 oz of Simcoe Hops for dry hopping over 5 days infuse your brew with an aromatic punch that’s impossible to resist.
To bring it all together, you’ll use 1 packet of American Ale Yeast, the unsung hero that transforms your ingredients into a harmonious symphony of flavors.
