Roasted Barley

Roasted barley is a highly roasted grain that delivers deep color and bold, dry roast character. It produces black hues with distinctive notes of espresso, dark coffee, and a firm, slightly bitter finish.

While it is grouped with roasted malts, roasted barley is technically unmalted, which gives it a sharper, drier profile than most grains in this category. It is a defining ingredient in classic stouts, especially Irish styles, and can also be used in smaller amounts to add color and a crisp roasted edge to darker beers.
