With Amber Dry Malt Extract and Corn Sugar, you'll get a full-bodied beer with a malty profile. The Crystal Malt and Cara-Pils/Dextrine give this beer a subtle sweetness, while the Fuggles Hops provide bittering and the East Kent Goldings Hops give it a pleasant flavor and aroma. Ingredients
- 5 lbs. Amber Dry Malt Extract
- 1 lb. Corn Sugar
- 1 lb. Crystal Malt (60L)
- 8 oz. Cara-Pils/Dextrine
- 1 oz. Fuggles Hops (Bittering)
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Flavor)
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Aroma)
- 1 Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo Packet
- 1 pkg. Dry Ale Yeast (Safale S-04)
Hop Schedule
- 1 oz. Fuggles Hops (Bittering) - Boil for 60 minutes
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Flavor) - Boil for 15 minutes
- 1 oz. East Kent Goldings Hops (Aroma) - Boil for 5 minutes
Instruction
1. Begin by heating 2-3 gallons of water to 155°F.
2. Place the grains in a muslin bag and steep in the water for 30 minutes.
3. Remove the grains from the water and discard.
4. Stir in the dry malt extract and corn sugar until fully dissolved. Then, bring the water to a boil.
5. Boil for 60 minutes, following the hop schedule above.
6. Add the Yeast Energizer / Irish Moss Combo with 15 minutes remaining in the boil.
7. Cool the wort to 70°F and transfer to a fermenter. Top up beer to make 5 gallons.
8. Pitch the yeast and ferment at 68°F for 7-10 days.
9. Bottle or keg the beer and enjoy!
