Description

Your Patriot Pride American Lager Clone draws on Pilsner and Vienna malts for a malt-forward base with light sweetness, while Caramel 40L adds subtle depth and complexity. Hallertau and Tettnang hops deliver crisp noble bitterness that finishes clean, and SafLager W-34/70 yeast keeps fermentation neutral so the malt and hop balance stays front and center.

Modeled on Sam Adams Boston Lager, the result is a smooth, well-rounded lager suited to food pairings like chowder or grilled meats.

Your Real Fake Patriot Pride American Lager - All Grain Clone Beer Kit never sits on a shelf. Your grains are crushed to order. Your ingredients are packed fresh and you don't pay for a flashy box. It's all about providing you with the freshest ingredients for you to make your best beer.

Prepare Equipment

  1. Clean and sanitize all brewing equipment thoroughly.

Mash

  1. Heat 4.5 gallons of water to 150°F.
  2. Mash in the Pilsner Malt, Vienna Malt, and Caramel 40L.
  3. Maintain 150°F for 60 minutes. Stir occasionally to avoid dough balls (no one wants malty dumplings).

Sparge

  1. Heat 4 gallons of water to 168°F.
  2. Sparge slowly, collecting about 6.5 gallons of wort.

Boil & Hop Schedule

  1. Boil for 60 minutes.
  2. 60 min: 1 oz Hallertau Hops
  3. 15 min: 1 oz Tettnang Hops and Irish Moss/Energizer Combo Packet

Cooldown & Fermentation

  1. Chill wort to ~50–55°F.
  2. Transfer to a sanitized fermenter, pitch SafLager W-34/70.
  3. Ferment at 50–55°F for about 2 weeks. Increase temperature to ~65°F for a diacetyl rest for 2–3 days near the end.

Lagering

  1. Optional but recommended: Transfer to a secondary and lager near 35°F for 2–4 weeks for maximum clarity and flavor.

Priming for Bottling

  1. Dissolve 5 oz of priming sugar in 2 cups boiling water and let it cool.
  2. Transfer the beer from the fermenter into a sanitized bottling bucket, leaving behind sediment.
  3. Stir in the priming sugar solution evenly and vigorously enough to aerate the wort for healthy fermentation.
  4. Bottle the beer using sanitized bottles and cap them securely.
  5. Store bottles at room temperature for 2-3 weeks for carbonation.

Kegging

  1. Transfer the beer into a sanitized keg.
  2. Seal and purge oxygen by burping the keg with COâ‚‚.
  3. Set the CO₂ regulator to 12 PSI and store at 38°F for 2-3 weeks before serving.
