Dark (80L+)
Dark Caramel and Crystal malts, typically 80 Lovibond and above, deliver deep color and intense sweetness. They produce dark amber to brown hues with pronounced flavors of burnt caramel, molasses, raisin, and other dark dried fruits.
These malts add significant body and a rich, lingering finish. Used carefully, they build depth and complexity in styles like porters, stouts, and strong ales. In smaller amounts, they can add a touch of dark fruit or pruney/raisiny character and color without overwhelming the balance of the beer.
