Light (10–40L)
Light Caramel and Crystal malts, typically ranging from 10 to 40 Lovibond, add gentle sweetness and subtle color to your beer. They contribute light golden to amber hues along with soft flavors of honey, light caramel, and a touch of toasted sugar.
These malts are ideal when you want to enhance body and balance without overpowering the base malt or hop profile. They are commonly used in pale ales, lagers, and lighter amber styles where a smooth, slightly sweet backbone helps round out the finish. Starting at the lowest lovibond levels, color is directly linked to kiln temperature and time.
