Wine Kits for New Wine Makers
The wine kits in this category are our recommendations for your first winemaking experieince. We have selected them becuase they are easy to make and require little or no aging. If you are also purchasing an equipment kit, you will get an additional 10% off your wine kit. Your discount will automatically appear in your shopping cart. The discount also extends to any Novello, Tavola Red, Tavola White or Forte Series Finer Wine Kit as well as any Classic, Reserve, Private Reserve or Island Mist Series Winexpert kit. However, we think these are your best bet for your first try.
We recommend the following:
- Dry Reds: Single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Cabernet Merlot or Trinity Red blends.
- Dry Whites: Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.
- Semi-Sweet or Sweet Whites and Blushes: Moscato, Riesling or White Zinfandel.
- Easy Drining Sweet Fruit Wines: Raspberry Peach Sangria, Blackberry or Strawberry Island Mist
These varietals are the easiest to make with the highest likelihood for good results. The proof is in your glass. If you like your first batch, you are much more likely to make a second batch.
While Winexpert has been around for decades, Finer Wine Kits have better instructions and higher quality ingredients. If you really want to learn how to make a dry red wine try one of the Finer Wine Kits. But if you want to make a white, blush or fruit wine we have only included Winexpert and Island Mist kits. Finer Wine Kits' whites are more complicated to make. While they are higher quality, you might want to wait until your second or third batch to try one. Also, if you choose a Finer Wine Kit, the concentrates will need to be refrigerated if you do not start making your kit right away. Winexpert kits can be stored at room temperature.
