Your Brown Box Beer Kit American Light Upscale - Partial Mash makes a malty beer with a moderate to high hop bitterness. Put this up against your regular Home brewed or over the counter Lite-lager and you'll notice the difference. The addition of rice solids to the LME and malt will give you a higher ABV (@ 3.9.) This amber gem glows with maltiness from the caramel malt, which gives your beer a toasty flavor to be enjoyed all year long.

YOUR BROWN BOX AMERICAN AMBER PARTIAL MASH CONTENTS
- 1 - BBB - American Light Upscale partial mash
- 1 - PILSEN LIGHT CANISTER 3.3 LB
- 3 lb. - 2-ROW BREWERS MALT (Freshly crushed)
- 1 - RICE SYRUP SOLIDS 1 LB. POWDER
- 1 - UK Fuggle Pellets 1oz
- 1 - SAFALE US-05 DRY ALE YEAST
- 1 - Grain Bag
- 1 - Hop Boiling Bag
- 1 - PRIMING SUGAR 5 OZ
INSTRUCTIONS
- Put crush the grains into large muslin bag, tie off the end. Heat 8 quarts (2 gal) of water in pot to 152F degrees. Introduce grains, move them around a bit to insure total wetting. Tie Hops in hop sock and introduce to the mixture. Maintain temp in the 150-152F range for 1 hour. Remove hop and sparge grains with 1/2 gallon of 158F water.
- Remove heat source, add LME and Rice solids stirring to prevent sticking to the bottom.
- Reheat to 180-190F for 10 minutes.
- Transfer to fermenter and top off to 5 Gal. allow to cool to 75F.
- Pitch yeast.
- Ferment on the cool side (68-70F). When no activity is seen in airlock allow to set for 4 more days.
- Cold crash if possible to help with clarity.
- Bottle and carbonate as usual.

Good sanitation practices are absolutely fundamental to good beer making. Five Star San is the premier sanitizer you will need to make your BBB - American Light Upscale - Partial Mash beer kit. A great practice for extra protection is to have a spray bottle filled with sanitizing solution so you can re-sanitize everything that touches or goes near your beer. Sanitation is much more difficult with beer than wine because beer has a higher pH. Wine's high acidity makes bacterial infection less likely but with beer, one small mishap can cost you your batch.
When your BBB - American Light Upscale - Partial Mash is done, you will need bottles. This standard 12 ounce bottle is a good choice. You will need 54 for a 5 gallon batch. Bottles do not come with caps.

It is recommended to replace airlocks often. Because they never physically touch the beer, the sanitation risk is too often overlooked. Bacteria can spread without physical contact in a closed environment and plastic stubbornly harbors bacteria.
Bungs and stoppers should also be periodically replaced. They can dry out and harbor bacteria.
Keeping your carboy clean before and after use is key to avoid bacterial infection in your beer. A carboy brush is a great tool to get into those nooks and crannies.
