Amber Malt

Amber malts are toasted malts that adds rich color and a bold, dry toast character to your beer. They contribute deep amber to light brown hues along with pronounced flavors of toasted bread, biscuit, and a light nuttiness.

Unlike caramel malts, amber malt is not sweet, making it useful for building depth and structure without increasing residual sugar. Using enough base malts with high enymatic power will ensure it converts starches to fermentable sugars. It is commonly used in amber ales, brown ales, and porters where a stronger toasted backbone helps define the malt profile.
